Population Health Partners are a mission-driven venture building company creating solutions to tackle health challenges at scale. Within PHP, we are developing an innovative data platform and AI/ML team to support our portfolio companies (including Aneira Health) in enhancing health outcomes. By leveraging machine learning and AI, we aim to explain, predict, and optimise complex biomedical systems, expanding the impact of our work across various health domains.
What this role is about
As the Lead Platform Engineer, you will architect and lead the development of a robust, scalable and secure platform that powers our data-driven health solutions. You'll be hands on - leading by example - while also mentoring engineers, providing tools and platform services to our product teams and enabling seamless integration of SaaS components, AI technologies, and 3rd party systems into our platform, while ensuring high performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and strong leadership to drive the evolution of our infrastructure, and a deep understanding of information security and DevSecOps practices.
What you’ll do
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of our platform infrastructure, focusing on scalability, reliability, and security.
- Develop platform products that are useful and valuable for our product engineering squads. Work with product engineers to understand their needs and pain points
- Architect cloud-based solutions that integrate bespoke applications, SaaS products and 3rd party systems to support our portfolio of health-tech companies.
- Lead on security initiatives, put the right processes and systems in place to ensure that the platform is being developed and operated in a way that is secure by design
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline continuous integration and deployment.
- Ensure platform performance with effective monitoring, automated testing, and alerting systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
- Mentor and guide platform engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, incorporating best practices into our platform's architecture.
What you’ll bring
- 7+ years of experience in platform engineering
- Expertise in cloud platforms (especially GCP) and containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Google Cloud certification or CKAD certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles including CI/CD, automated testing, and production monitoring.
- Experience with architecting, deploying and managing large-scale database systems, especially Lakehouse architectures
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform orCloudFormation.
- Experience setting and enforcing security standards, integrating security practices into the development lifecycle, conducting security assessments and managing incident responses.
- Experience building and optimising large-scale, distributed systems.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Passion for driving technical excellence across the organisation, and driving impact through technology
